a 100% recyclable meal packaging system designed for long rail travel in the UK
What it’s Called: FaireFood
What it Is: Train-Based Meal Packaging System
What it Does: Provides a stable system of packaging designed for the English overground train environment. Packaging has been created with considerations for portability, accessibility, and sustainability.
What I Did: Packaging Design, Branding
Designing for the General Public
Since the audience for this project was all railway passengers on the UK train system, I wanted to make sure the design addressed such a diverse and expansive group with clarity and accessibility. This included:
Having clear and legible type that can be seen on a food trolley from a seated position
Having ingredients both pictured and listed
Providing visual instructions on how to use the packaging
Displaying nutritional labels clearly
Considerations
In order to minimize plastic waste, both packaging styles show a picture of the food instead of having a die-cut window
The aluminum tin is not only recyclable, but can also be reheated, allowing for the storage of hot meals.
Both packages can serve as a plate/bowl
